Wappen Galizien Welcome on our web page, dealing with the history and genealogy of Galicia, the former Kingdom of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.

Galicia cannot be mistaken for the Spanish province Galicia which also is called Galicien or Galicia.

The main emphasis of the work is on the German settlers who often set up in German-speaking municipalities of their own due to an imperial decree as of the year 1782 and got land assigned. We investigate these settlers, her life and her culture as well as your ancestors and descendants. The research is not restricted to Galicia but, extend on the German origin areas of the ancestors of the settlers and todays descendants, scattered in the whole world, many of them again in Germany, but also particularly in the USA and Canada.

Extensive family databases with more than 130.000 persons are found besides a number of historical articles with reference to Galicia. These databases are attainable at our pages via the menu item databases. For data protection reasons the display of living persons in the public area is carried out "confidentially" only with the note. Living persons are also shown to registered users. Furthermore a photo gallery and a forum are available for exchange. In our guestbook you can tell us your opinion and leave suggestions for the site. Via the contact form you can send us also direct messages.

T have access to the full functionality, eg. display of living people, complete or change your own family data and being able to write articles in the bulletin board, a registration is needed. The registration will be reviewed and approved manually. So please fill in the registration reason carefully, because no access is granted, if the registration not clearly states you relation to Galicia and to people in the databases.

Galizien-Online in neuem Layout

Liebe Mitstreiter,

wir haben Ostern genutzt, bei Galizien-Online Frühjahrsputz zu machen und alles in einem neuen Layout erstrahlen zu lassen. Hoffentlich gefällt es Euch.

Diejenigen, die noch Internet Explorer 6 als Browser benutzen, erhalten einmalig eine Warnmeldung. Wir unterstützen zwar vorerst noch IE6, bei zukünftigen Änderungen wird er aber nicht mehr berücksichtigt. Wenn es der Computer zulässt, wäre es wirklich Zeit, auf einen aktuelleren Browser zu aktualisieren.

Sollten sich Probleme mit dem Layout bei der Nutzung ergeben, die wir in den Tests übersehen haben, bitte beim Webmaster melden.

Spendenaufruf Friedhof Hohenbach

Vor einem Jahr hatten wir vom Czerminer Bürgemeister Bilder bekommen, wo die vielen Bäume und das Gestrüpp beseitigt waren. Die vielen Friehofsbilder lassen nun gut erkennen, dass auf dem Friedhof in der Zwischenzeit mit Bedacht ordentlich aufgeräumt wurde. Dieses hat die Gemeinde Czermin alles aus eigenen Mitteln getan. Alle werden über diesen Ruck auf dem Friedhof freudig überrascht sein. Viele von Euch kennen unseren Brief an den wojt con Cermin von 2007. Wir hatten uns dort für den Start einer Spendensammlung für den Friehof ausgesprochen, wenn die Auifräumarbeiten auf dem Friedhof ausgeführt sind. Unsere Wünsche sind deutlich übertroffen worden.

A Trip to the Vistula-San–Triangle in 2008

A group of six persons with ancestors from Czermin Kolonia (Hohenbach), Padew, and Sarnow (Reichsheim) visited these and other places between September 5 and 11, 2008. These were the children of Edmund Konrad (born 1897 at Padew) and Heinrich Konrad (born 1914 at Hohenbach) and families. For this excursion we had an outstanding organizer in Mr. Gasiewski, PhD, and translator in Mr. Rejman. Both of these gentlemen are high school teachers in Mielec (say Me uh lets, which lies in this area).
